By the Way

So... my ipod crapped the bed.. finally.. after 5 years.. So this work in progress.. Of top 50 songs.. kinda got the boot.

Umm.. yeah.. So i was going to pick this back up and keep going with it.. But my ipod failed on me.

So if i can get it to where the computer at least recognizes it as a hard drive and itunes will pick it up.. i will work on finishing this later.. But not right now..

number 40

Thrash!!!!!

Caught in a Mosh-Anthrax

What more can be said.. this song is awesome.. May not be everyone's cup of tea.. But it's mine.. lol..

number 41

Taking Back Sunday-Makedamnsure

I'm pretty sure this song got all of it's plays in one day last year (my birthday actually) when a really close friend of mine and his girlfriend at the time were going through a tough patch and he saw how cool another girl would've been to him.

But it was cool. Me and dude were spearheading a party at this club.. kinda a back to school party type deal... and the whole time we were out making arrangements for the night.. Gettin all our proverbial ducks in a row... We were listening to this song because he liked the emotion in it.. After all was said and done.. Party happened.. It was my birthday.. i got drunk.. It was fun..

number 42

The Hollow-A Perfect Circle

This is a cool addition because according to my ipod, i have actually listened to this song more than i have the song Judith. Which is also on this album.. So I guess i can just go ahead and rock my APC story. Cuz this is it for them haha.

Alright me and my 2 really good friends from home matt and trav discovered napster about the same time everyone else did. And they had a computer with a whole 6 gigs of space on it and enough RAM to support actually downloading stuff, whereas i did not. So i'd spend hours and hours and hours just gettin music on there.. We had seen Judith's video being played on Muchmusic, and had decided to get it.. Well accidently clicking i got it and the song three libras. Which at the time they weren't too fond of.

Well regardless i dug it.. so i went to Cheap Thrills as i usually did back then to buy music, and picked up Mer De Noms.

As soon as i put the cd into my car cd player i knew i had something i liked just due to the fact that this song is the first on the CD.

The really interesting sidenote was that i knew this guy was the singer for Tool.. But i actually liked APC for a lot longer than i have liked the band Tool.

If you have an interest in music whatsoever i really really really encourage you to listen to this song. I am kinda suprised it's not ranked a little higher to be honest.

number 43

Ok.. So regardless of the fact that Atlantic Records wouldn't let me embed the actual video of this song..

Trippin in a hole in a paper heart-Stone Temple Pilots is number 43

What a blast seein STP live was. A ton of us went to see them a few summers back in Charlotte NC and wow.. it was awesome start to finish.. But that's not where my love for this band started at all..

Back when i was in high school, my family would go to Myrtle beach for about the entirety of July. This is one of those songs that when i got the courage to tackle driving down there they would jam on the radio all the time, me and my car plus this equals a frickin blast exploring sides that i'd never seen on our typical family vacations.

So yeah.. one again.. like alice in chains before this.. you probably haven't heard the last of STP in this list.. So i gotta save some stuff about them for later in the list. :)

number 44

About A Girl-The Academy is..

Umm.. yeah.. just listen to the song.. and look at the name of the song.. it pretty much says it all.

Me and said girl had a blast but we were better friends than a couple.. it's another one of those summer deals..

Already i can see the trend that i listen to a lot of different music during the summer... and stick to the norms during the fall/winter/spring...

number 45

Cake-I will survive..

I dunno why but this has ALWAYS been a party favorite for me to play.. from Mix Cd's that i made for the old "house" that we all knew so well back in the day. To the Falcon House that took it's place after we couldnt party at the house anymore. To now wherever we decided to throw down.

Before i went to CU i had heard of Cake. But never really given them a second thought. Then i heard the man who would become one of my best friends playing the bassline of this song on the tuba (music major) in his practice room.

Cool. yeah.. i listen to this song a lot.. lol

Number 46

Twist of Cain By Danzig

Glen Danzig and all his previous projects are huge influences on my budding musicianship. (Bass Player by the way). This is another one of those songs i remember watchin on the metal show they'd show laaaaaaaaaaaate at night on VH-1 back in the day when they still played music. Before they became the reality show channel.

Well.. The shirtless wonder Glen Danzig's music was also there and allowed me to get some aggression and anger out when i went through a really bad breakup right after the events of 9-11. My events of 9-11 aside from the tragedy that occoured in NYC included the breakup of a relationship, me getting laid off from an amazing job, and me losing what was my dream car at that time... so yeah.. not fun.. at all.. This music really helped me cope though.

number 47

Alright, i got busy this last week and forgot to take care of this stuff.. so i am going to try and play catch up today.

THIS IS NUMBER 47 ON MY LIST..

No More Paddy's Lament-Flogging Molly

This song reminds me of crusing around Charleston WV and Roanoke VA, with my buddies in an old Mustang convertible.. Fun song so check it out :)

number 48

Aight.. So continuing with the series of blogs about my top 50 most played itunes songs..

Number 48-Mc Chris-Ten Year Old

A few summers back, i was working at the engineering firm that i worked at for the past few summers, and was absolutely obsessed with all things adult swim. So i noticed a common link in all of the shows. This link was MC Chris.

After doing my internship at a pop radio station, ( I was Chris Jones at Star 95 a few years back) i was more open to all music and really embraced the fact that i wanted to be a DJ. Both on the air and at parties and such. Mission accomplished by the way.. So I allowed my metalheadedness to be side tracked while i got into and embraced all different kinds of music.

Being the nerd that i am (come on, i have the master sword from the legend of zelda tattooed on my shin) i listened to MC Chris a lot the summer after i did my internship.

Numero 49!!!

Aight.. So i just feel like doing two of these today... and this is number 49 in my top 50 ipod playlist blogs.

Tool-Parabola

I remember that i bought this album the day it came out. All of my friends at the time didn't really dig Tool. We were too busy listening to Pantera/Metallica and the like.. But i bought this cd just to give them a shot.. Lateralus came out on my brother's birthday in 2001, and as soon as we got done eating cake and such, i hopped into my car.. Picked up my then fiancee and came up to Cheap Thrills in Princeton to pick up the album. And SHE HAAAAAAAATED it.. lol.. one of those memories that just dont leave ya haha..

But my true love for the CD would not be until i came to concord.. My second semester at concord i moved in with my pledgebrother Lee.. who effin loved tool. It was due to him that i got into the band and expanded my musical horizons a lot more. Listening to stuff that wasn't thrash metal haha.. But yeah.. that's my number 49

Aight so completely stealing somone else's idea here

But chris slater who is a fellow Comm Arts major and twitterino has decided to do a top 50 played songs section in his blog.. So i'm gonna steal that cuz i think mine will be somewhat interesting too..

I suppose it would be unfair of me to start this without first introducing myself.

My name is Michael, recent graduate of Concord University (finally, yes i know). While there i was a lot of things, brother of Sigma Tau Gamma national fraternity, sweetheart of Alpha Sigma Tau sorority. I was in the theatre fraternity for a bit which was known was Alpha Psi Omega, but it just kinda went away and i never really heard anything else about it. Just a few weeks ago i got my Bachelor of Arts in Communication Arts with an emphasis in Electronic Media and Journalism.

Before i got involved in all of the above things that i listed.. I was a metalhead kid musician from Monroe County who did just that. i played bass guitar and hung around Monroe County West Virginia listening to heavy metal.

I took my sweet ass time getting out of school because I never really got to experience all the coolness that was being around all sorts of new and different people. and i took to that like a fish in water. But regardless that's me.. Right now it's hard to tell what the future holds..

But as Casey Casem would say.. let's get on with the countdown.. At number 50 i have Brother by Alice in Chains

I'm sure i'll say this about a lot of these songs, but this song means a lot to me. And i'm sure it's not the last time you'll see me post something about alice in chains. One of my friends gave me a copy of the CD alice in chains unplugged wayyy back when i lived in the dorms, and this song stuck out to me.. Layne and Jerry Just feed off each other here and it kinda inspired me to give a damn about vocals. But regardless.. that's the number 50 most played song on my ipod..

you'll have to excuse me if i forget to do this.. or if i'm kinda short winded with some of the musical selections. Been sorta and will be sorta busy since i got my whole life ahead of me now.. haha
